Delhi Witnesses Historic Unveiling of the Original Somnath Jyotirlingam Relics by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
A historic spiritual event took place in the capital as Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar unveiled the sacred relics of the original Somnath Jyotirlingam for the first time in Delhi. These relics, hidden for a thousand years, have now resurfaced, marking a powerful moment in India’s spiritual history. Lakhs of devotees gathered to witness this rare occasion, reconnecting with India’s deep-rooted heritage.
A Divine Evening of Devotion and Wisdom
The unveiling occurred during a Maha Satsang titled Anandam, an evening filled with devotional music, spiritual wisdom, and the sacred revelation. Distinguished dignitaries attended, including Hon. Chief Minister of New Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon. Speaker of Vidhan Sabha Shri Vijendra Gupta, Member of Parliament Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and Hon. Member of Legislative Assembly Shri Tilak Ram Gupta.

Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta praised The Art of Living’s impact, stating, “A meaningful life requires the wisdom of The Art of Living. Gurudev’s vision of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (One World Family) is transforming lives globally.” She recalled The Art of Living’s Yamuna cleanup efforts and pledged to advance the mission with a grand riverfront project and Maha Aarti.
The Revelation of a Lost Treasure
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar then revealed the relics—pieces of the original Somnath Jyotirlingam, lost when Mahmud of Ghazni destroyed the temple in 1026 CE. Agnihotri Brahmins secretly preserved these sacred pieces in Tamil Nadu, worshipping them across generations before entrusting them to Gurudev, following the guidance of Kanchi Shankaracharya.
A 2007 scientific study found the relics possess unusual magnetic properties, with a strong central magnetic field. “Shiva is in every particle of existence,” said Gurudev. “He resides in our hearts, but at times, He manifests in sacred places. This divine occurrence will be celebrated nationwide.”
Showcasing the Power of the Human Mind
The satsang featured stunning demonstrations of The Art of Living’s Intuition Process. Children read visiting cards and solved Rubik’s cubes while blindfolded, astonishing the audience. Students from Sri Sri Sanskar Kendra captivated the gathering with soulful Ramayana recitations.
A mesmerizing flute ensemble, led by Shri Mohan Krishna, a disciple of Pt. Kailash Sharma, performed Raag Mishr, leaving the audience spellbound.
Inauguration of the World Peace Centre
Earlier, Gurudev inaugurated the World Peace Centre with Revered Jain Monk Shri Lokesh Muni, Former President Shri Ramnath Kovind, and Haryana CM Shri Nayab Singh Saini. Gurudev spoke on Sanatan Dharma, non-violence, and patience, stating, “Where the wind cannot reach, the mind can. Nature holds infinite possibilities.”
Former President Shri Ramnath Kovind and CM Shri Nayab Singh Saini honored Gurudev for his contributions to peace and humanitarian efforts. Jain Monk Shri Lokesh Muni praised Gurudev’s global impact, saying, “His work in education, healthcare, and peace-building is beyond words.”
A Global Call for Peace and Harmony
A significant announcement followed—the formation of a special committee led by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Morari Bapu, uniting leaders from diverse fields to restore peace and ahimsa in conflict-affected regions.
Gurudev also attended an exhibition on the Persecution of Minorities in Bangladesh, addressing the declining Hindu population. He urged, “Violence is not the solution. We must act with wisdom and composure instead of reacting impulsively.”
This historic event reinforced the deep spiritual connection that unites people beyond geographical boundaries, inspiring a renewed commitment to peace, harmony, and collective well-being.
