Introduction

The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) is a cultural milestone, celebrating 51 years of promoting the written word. As a key event in the global publishing calendar, NDWBF 2024 is set to take place from February 10 to 18, 2024, in the newly constructed Halls 2-6 at the centrally located Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Organized by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and co-organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, this fair promises a remarkable experience for book enthusiasts.

Diverse Activities for All Ages

Children’s Pavilion: NDWBF places a strong emphasis on promoting children’s literature and fostering a reading habit. The Children’s Pavilion hosts a variety of activities, including storytelling sessions, workshops, panel discussions, interactive sessions, quizzes, and contests. Renowned authors, illustrators, educators, and professionals from the publishing field lead these activities, attracting teachers and children from various schools and organizations. The Child Author’s Corner is a testament to the commitment to nurturing young talent.

YUVA CORNER: In commemoration of India@75 and to pay tribute to the heroes of India’s freedom struggle, the Ministry of Education launched the ‘YUVA-Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors.’ This initiative aims to train and mentor young and budding authors. Seventy-five young writers, selected through a nationwide contest and mentored by established authors, will launch their books. These authors will engage with book lovers, visitors, and fellow panelists in the specially designed YUVA corner.

THEME PAVILION: A dedicated Theme Pavilion, designed by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, showcases the theme of the Book Fair. It features creatives, graphics, installations, books, walls, and artifacts. Numerous literary sessions and cultural activities are held around the theme, adding depth and richness to the fair.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS CORNER: This dynamic platform fosters the exchange of ideas and enhances literary understanding. Foreign exhibitors, missions, embassies, cultural centers, and book promotion agencies are encouraged to book slots at the International Events Corner for book launches, panel discussions, literary programs, and workshops for both children and adults.

CEOSPEAK (A FORUM FOR PUBLISHING): CEOs and senior executives in the publishing industry are invited to participate in the B2B event, CEO Speak, over a Chairman’s Breakfast. This event, organized by the National Book Trust, India, and FICCI, provides a forum for sharing and exchanging ideas about the Indian and international book trade.

AUTHORS’ CORNERS: These aesthetically designed corners in various halls of the fair provide the perfect platform for dialogues, panel discussions, and book launches for domestic publishers, authors, and book lovers. Known as Book Talk & Lekhak Manch, these corners are synonymous with lively literary activities and serve as meeting places for visitors.

NEW DELHI RIGHTS TABLE: Scheduled for February 12 and 13, 2024, the New Delhi Rights Table offers B2B matchmaking sessions among publishers in a refreshing business atmosphere. Exhibitors can book their Rights Table, meet potential partners, present their products and ideas, and finalize agreements for the transfer of translation and other rights of books available in English, Hindi, and other Indian languages.

CULTURAL PROGRAMS: In addition to the book-related activities, NDWBF also hosts cultural presentations by leading organizations in the field. These cultural programs, presented by entities like the Song and Drama Division and Sahitya Kala Parishad, add a festive touch to the fair, receiving wide appreciation from participants, including foreign guests.
